about me

With over two decades of experience working as an editor and author coach, I have a keen interest in developing writers of all levels and helping them hone their craft through collaboration, constructive feedback, communication, and support. My clients have gone on to secure agents at top literary and entertainment agencies, publish award-winning stories with traditional publishing houses, and self-publish.

In addition to my commercial editorial work, I have worked as a Managing Editor, Copy Editor, Line Editor, and Proofreader for Room to Read and the Asia Foundation, two NGOs focused on building literacy around the world. In October 2020, I was honored to be chosen by Room to Read as one of 10 editors for the Room to Read Peace & Equality Book Collection. I am associated with Angelella Editorial and available for hire on Reedsy, an online platform that helps writers connect with professionals with extensive experience in publishing.

I volunteered as a Regional Advisor of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) for five years, helping hundreds of writers further their craft and build their careers. Along the way, I founded Middle Grade Lunchbreak, a book club of professional writers who discuss books with an eye for craft. I have taught writing and poetry to middle grade and high school students and am a frequent guest lecturer at Stanford University and other esteemed academic institutions. I currently teach American Culture at Cañada College.

I hold a BA in English Literature from the University of California at Berkeley, an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts (focus on writing for children and young adults), and a TESL Certificate from the University of Cambridge.
